You shouldn't need advanced design-software training to create everyday label jobs

Prila guides you through each stage of creating your artwork in clearly numbered steps. New users are instantly productive, without the need for extensive training.

How it works

A straightforward path from label idea to production.

Prila focuses on the practical steps for production labels, tags and plates: choose or design a label shape, add your content, easily create batches with or without variable data, then print to your laser or export for use in a different program.

The Prila app's numbered steps: 1 Choose a template, 2 Label & Content, 3 Batch, 4 Output
Prila step 1: Choose a template Prila step 2: Label & Content Prila step 3: Batch Prila step 4: Output
The four steps in Prila.
  1. 01 / CHOOSE A TEMPLATE

Start with the label you need.

Choose a ready-made template with pre-filled fields, or start with a blank label and set its shape and dimensions to suit your job.

  2. 02 / LABEL & CONTENT

    Build your label artwork.

Add fixed or variable text, serial numbers, barcodes, QR codes, logos and simple artwork. Easily adjust their size and position, and include cut lines, borders, holes or slots where needed.

  3. 03 / BATCH

Create one label or a complete batch.

Keep it as a one-off label, repeat the same design, or create labels with different information on each. Type or paste your data, or import a spreadsheet, then review the batch layout before output.

  4. 04 / OUTPUT

Print directly or export your artwork.

Send your artwork through a compatible laser or printer’s normal print driver, or export SVG or DXF files for the production software already used in your workshop.

Two production routes

Use Prila as your main label-production tool—or as a faster assistant to the workflow you already use.

Prila can be the focused label-artwork tool for compatible driver-based machines, or the faster design assistant sitting beside the software you already use.

Direct / compatible print-driver equipment

Create in Prila. Print through your laser or printer’s normal driver.

For compatible print-driver workflows, Prila can be used exclusively to create the label artwork. Prepare the job in Prila, then send it directly through the normal driver that sends jobs to your equipment—without rebuilding routine labels in CorelDRAW or Illustrator.

  • Suitable for compatible workflows such as Epilog Laser, Trotec, Gravotech and GCC
  • Individual labels or complete variable-data batches
  • Prila creates the artwork; your normal driver still sends the job to the machine

Assistant / existing production software

Create labels in Prila. Export to the software that runs your equipment.

Already using CorelDRAW, Illustrator, LightBurn, EZCAD, RDWorks, BarTender or another package? Build individual labels and changing-data runs in Prila, then export SVG or DXF artwork into the workflow you already trust.

  • Fast label setup and variable data
  • SVG and DXF handoff for downstream software
  • Prila does not replace every machine-control program

Always confirm the compatibility of your particular machine, driver and production workflow before relying on a direct-print route for live production.

Made for routine production

Designed to make creating labels easier.

Prila is deliberately focused. It gives laser, UV and print operators a faster way to make the label artwork they create every day.

Starting points

Templates and blank shapes

Start with the label shape you need, then build from there. Less time setting up an artboard; more time preparing the actual job.

One-to-many

Variable data & batches

Add fixed or variable text, serial numbers, QR codes and barcodes, then use the same design for a full production batch.

Ready to identify

Codes, logos and essential content

Bring together the information a practical label requires—from readable text and part numbers to vector logos, barcodes and QR codes.

Useful handoff

Artwork for the next step

Use Prila to create a print-ready layout for compatible workflows, or export SVG and DXF files for the tools you already run.

Compact guides

  1. 01Create a label from scratch
Prila Label Setup showing working units, label dimensions, corner radius and text-line spacing beside a blank label preview
    Label dimensions and setup
    1. Open Label Setup and choose your Working units: mm or inches.
    2. Enter the label’s Width and Height. These are the dimensions of one label—not the laser bed. Use the proportional-scaling lock to keep its proportions when resizing.
    3. Set Corner radius, if available, to adjust rounded corners.
    4. Choose the number of text Lines and use Extra gap to set additional spacing between them.
    5. Enable Include label outline as cut line if you want to cut out the label. Leave it off when engraving an existing blank.
    6. Add optional finishing features: Add Border creates an engraved inner border with adjustable gap and thickness. Add Holes creates a left/right mounting-hole pair; set the diameter and side offset, then click Add holes. Add Slot creates a rounded cutout; set its position and size, then click Add slot.

  2. 02Add and control text lines

Open Text lines, click Add line of text, and enter your wording. Open the line’s Options to customise it.

Prila Text lines controls and a label preview containing fixed Asset ID text and a changing asset number
Text lines and changing label content
    • Fixed text stays the same on every label, such as a company name. Changing per label uses a named field, such as asset_id, with different values supplied in Batch.
    • Font changes the typeface. Text height sets its physical size. The left, centre and right icons control text justification—not the line’s position on the label.
    • Use the position buttons, drag the text, or enter X/Y coordinates to place it. The nine-point reference chooses which point on the artwork those coordinates refer to.
    • Set Rotation directly or use the −15° / +15° buttons. Arrow keys nudge selected artwork by the toolbar’s Nudge distance.
    • Use the lock to prevent edits, the eye to hide/show the line, or Delete selected item to remove it.

For a stacked layout, set Lines and Extra gap in Label Setup. Changing these rearranges the text stack.

  3. 03Add barcodes, logos and shapes

Open Shapes, Barcodes & Logos and choose the item to add.

Prila Shapes, Barcodes and Logos controls with QR code settings and a label preview showing text and a QR code
Adding a code to the label artwork
    • Code: choose QR code, Code 128, Data Matrix or Code 39. Enter the data, set its physical dimensions, then click Add code. In its Options, use Payload mode to choose Fixed for one value or Changing to link it to a batch field.
    • Logo: upload an SVG, PNG or JPG. SVG imports as vector artwork; PNG/JPG uses a black-and-white tracing preview. Use a crisp, high-contrast image, check the trace, then click Add vector artwork.
    • Shape: choose a rectangle, rounded rectangle, square, circle, oval, triangle, diamond, heart or line. Set its dimensions, then click Add shape.

Select an item and open Options to adjust its placement, rotation or engraving/cutting operation. Keep the artwork inside the label outline.

  4. 04Choose whether an object is engraved or cut

Select the object, open Options, and choose Operation:

Prila Operation menu listing Fill Only, Cut Outline Only, Engrave Outline Only and Fill and Cut
    Engraving and cutting operations
    • Fill Only: engraves the filled areas of text, shapes, codes or logos.
    • Cut Outline Only: creates a cut path around the object, without filled engraving.
    • Engrave Outline Only: engraves the outline instead of the fill. Set Engraving line thickness to control its physical width.
    • Fill & Cut: engraves the filled areas and cuts the object’s outline.

A line has no filled area; Fill Only engraves its path. In the preview, filled engraving is black, outline engraving is green, and cuts are red.

These settings apply to the selected object. To cut the outer label edge, use Include label outline as cut line in Label Setup. Confirm the operations in your laser software before production.

  5. 05Choose the right batch method

Choose the method that matches your data:

Prila batch options for repeating a design, typing or pasting data, and importing a spreadsheet, alongside a table of changing label records
Choosing a batch method and entering records
    • Repeat the same design: creates identical copies of the current label. Choose this when the wording and codes do not change; simply enter the number of copies.
    • Type or Paste your data: lets you type values into a table or paste cells copied from a spreadsheet. Each row creates one label, and each column supplies a changing field. Click Create batch when finished.
    • Import a spreadsheet: reads an existing CSV or Excel file. Include column headings in Row 1, choose Import CSV or Excel, match the columns to your design fields, then click Apply records.

For different values on each label, first make the relevant text or code Changing. Fixed wording and artwork remain the same. Review the batch preview before output.

  6. 06Choose export artwork or print to laser

In Output, choose the route that fits your workflow.

File exports is for opening artwork in another design or laser application. Choose SVG or DXF, then download it. A single-label file contains that label; a batch export preserves the reviewed layout page, including label positions and gaps. Use this route when you want to edit the artwork or configure the job in your laser software.

    File exports

Print to laser prepares the design for an installed printer/laser driver. Choose Open printer-ready page for the print-dialog handoff, or Download print PDF for a vector PDF. Check the page size and selected pages; print PDFs at Actual size.
